My story short

Hello everyone! I guess I should introduce myself in my first article, even if I gave you a short introduction on the home page. As you may understand my name is Carmela and I am a 25 years young woman and I love traveling.

It’s very challenging form me to open myself through words and writing, since I always try to hide some aspects of my life and share them only with fewer people… but here we are and I can’t look back now!

That’s because in everyone’s eyes I seem courageous, decided on what I want from life and very confident. The truth is that none of this it’s true.

I am kind of determinate once I took a decision (very Capricorn), but it’s very hard for me to take one.
Let’s go to the hard part, “decided on what I want from life’’.

Where should I start? I am 25 years old, I have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, but I love to travel, to sew, to dance and act. So yes guys, I don’t know yet what I want from life for my future, but I guess I know what I like. This can be frustrating, especially when society puts in front of us, some stereotypes and if you don’t follow them you may feel weird and you start to ask yourself “why am I like this?". Well, if you feel that too, even if you are not surrounded by people in your same situation, now you know you are not alone.

Even if I feel kind of confident with myself, I learned how to love myself and be ok with what Mom and Dad created. A 1,60m girl with curly hair that I decided to cut short at the beginning of my trip in South east Asia to stop pulling off knots. I have to say that I feel confident with a lot of aspects of myself, but I still struggle with feeling that I am worthy of doing something that can have an impact in this world.

Yes, that is my biggest fear, to live without having done anything that can have a positive impact on the earth.

But now guys, let’s go to the fun part! Despite all my sh*t and my complicated mind, I kind of did some cool stuff that I am proud of and I am here to share it with you.

In 2019 I graduated in Marketing and even if my degree is not my passion it gave me the chance of living in Spain, specifically in Barcelona during my studies and also to work.

Before going to the Spain part, I have to tell you a little secret that I cannot skip in my story. I am Italian of course, born and raised in a small town in the South of Italy called Amantea, in the region of Calabria, but I am also an American citizen.. How?
My grandparent migrated to the US after they got married and my dad was born and raised there, so I got my citizenship from him. I can’t wait to tell you more about this topic!

Now let’s go back to Spain guys. As I told you I went to Spain to work after my bachelor and it was the best decision I could have made in that moment, because even if it didn’t give me any answer about what the job of my dreams (if that even exists, I have serious doubts), it made me love even more Barcelona and meet amazing people that I can still call best friends.

Why did I love this city so much and (spoiler) why would I love to live there and raise my children there? I can’t tell you this now, otherwise I have an article less to write LOL.

You are all waiting for the solo trip part, right? Maybe not but hah, it’s coming!
Even if all my experiences of working and studying have started “solo’’, of course it’s not the same thing as traveling for months without a plan and on the other side of the world.

My solo trip is, how we say it Italy for things that happened since a short time, very “fresh’’ (it’s just as the fresh food, everything is connected with the food in Italy and I am not here to deny it) and I am still processing all the emotions I have lived there and writing these articles for you is helping a lot!
Why did I decide to do that? Where did I find the famous courage? Actually circumstances made the decision easier since, spoiler again, I got fired from my last job. Yes, you heard well, I got fired with the 80% of other employees for financial reasons. It was the end of something that didn't make me happy day by day and the beginning of an amazing adventure that I was keeping postpones because I was worried about money, work and all those normal stuff.

So what’s the purpose of this blog? I just want to share my stories and adventures with people that sometimes can feel like me, lost and unsure about the future or simply to anyone that has my same passions.
